La Cita’s the Place to Be. But Keep it on the Down-Low.

Thursdays at La Cita feel more like partying at a trendy bar in Mexico City than being inside a recently made over paisa dive.

From the moment you walk through the door you feel like you’ve entered an archaic Mexican strip club. A perky woman greets you kindly holding a hefty stack of $1 Dewars Whiskey coupons, with a couple stashed just for you. The darkly lit room’s only source of light comes from a plethora of Christmas lights that transforms the traditional Mexican bar into a safe haven for young clubsters.

A thumping blend of funky hip-hop and catchy Indie purges out of speakers and has the masses swinging their hips and cute hairdos all night long. And with no clear dress attire, mingling in grandma sweaters, corduroy blazers, white corsets or vintage fedora hats is only that much more fun.

Envision a free-for-all of fashion, music and lifestyle all thrown into a downtown bar where even the young-at-heart older crowd can blend into the inviting debauchery that is Dance Right! Thursdays ever so freely.

And to top it off, there is no need to worry about the wrong crowd of people raining on your parade. Oh and about the young Gotti look-a-likes roaming the bar in attempts to serenade you with their pick-up lines? They self-destruct automatically. Don’t even trip.

So if you want to dance right, shake your booty on over to La Cita on Thursdays, where the hospitable people of Obey and MSG host. It’s one of the few places in downtown where it’s all about the dancing and not who’s wearing what.
