The GSMTP was founded in 1995 by Gayle Bluemel. Its mission is to provide quality arts education for gifted and talented students and develop and nurture creative talents in the performing arts. The GSMTP is sponsored in part by the Pasadena Unified School District's Gifted And Talented Education (GATE) Office. In 2004, Ryan Scott Oliver took over the program and continues to direct it alongside its original music director, Cindy Abbott.

Emily Clark has been involved with the GATE Summer Musical Theatre Program since it was founded in 1995. She was a student performer for three years, subsequently serving as the Assistant Director. She is a working actor, having appeared in productions of Assassins, Little Shop of Horrors, and A Chorus Line.

Who is the Choreographer?
A
Phillip Attmore is a native of Pasadena, and began his performance career at the age of three. Phillip's performance credits include: Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (Broadway); Beehive (Broadway Workshop); Fosse (US Tour); 42nd Street - Moscow (International Tour); Silent Tongue (Film); Judging Amy, Sisters, General Hospital, Days of Our Lives (Television).
