Illuminating the Lotus

Let the light of Salt Crystals Illuminate Majestic Tibetan Art
Illume Gallery; the provocatively conscious new gallery that exhibits and sells handcrafted Salt Lamps, located at 813 N. La Brea Ave. in Hollywood will host the most enlightened art event of the year. LA, get ready to experience this one-of-a-kind happening. Zana Licht, founder and owner of Illume Gallery has graciously invited her friend and colleague Jim Aplington of Lotus Gallery from Nepal to display over 20 pieces of sacred art from their most recent collections of contemporary Tibetan art and traditional thangka paintings.
This innovative show will feature re-interpretations of Tibetan Buddhist religious paintings, as well as digital and installation art. Contemporary Tibetan artists Ang Sang, Gade, Jangyung, and Yak Tsetan will be exhibited. Images range from wildlife set against Tibetan landscape to whimsical takes on the mix of Tibetan and global cultures, that seem to ask us to consider the implications of rapid and radical social change. Mediums include crushed mineral pigments on canvas as well as photography. In addition, several master thangkas (religious scroll paintings), including those by Prem Lama, will be offered.
When one thinks of Tibetan art, the word modern is rarely used. However, modern art in Tibet is growing rapidly. Though never abandoning the voices of their ancient culture, Tibetan artists strive to reach new levels of expression within this modern world. While still honoring their enlightened tradition, they have embraced this modern culture through art with vivid awe-inspiring imagination.
The wonder of authentic Tibetan Art surrounded by the healing glow of Salt Crystal Lamps may enlighten Hollywood, if not just for one night.
So Come and celebrate conscious living at Illume Gallery 813 N. La Brea Ave., LA, CA. Opening Reception Saturday October 20, from 6:00pm -10:00pm.
