“L.A. MUSIC SCENE’S BEST-KEPT SECRET,” THE TOWELS, SELECTED A “TOP 100 UNSIGNED ARTIST” FOR THE THIRD CONSECUTIVE YEAR BY RESPECTED INDUSTRY TRADE PUBLICATION, MUSIC CONNECTION MAGAZINE

(HOLLYWOOD) – The “L.A. Music Scene’s Best-Kept Secret”—THE TOWELS – have been selected as a “Top 100 Unsigned Artist” for 2007 by respected industry trade publication, MUSIC CONNECTION. This marks the third consecutive year of being in the MC Top 100 for the Los Angeles-based band, who were awarded the honor over approximately one thousand bands submitted to the magazine each year to be selected. The Towels were recently nominated in multiple categories for both the 2007 All Access Awards (“Best Pop Male Guitarist – Noral Squizz,” “Best Pop Group/Artist – The Towels”); and the 2007 South Bay Music Awards (“Best Independent CD” —Around Our World,” “Rock Group Of The Year – The Towels,” “Guitarist Of the Year” – Noral Squizz”). The band has just released a new CD, AROUND OUR WORLD (Platehead Records). Among the noteworthy tracks on the disc: The hypnotic, Led Zeppelin-meets-Peter Gabriel-esque, “Has It Occurred To You?”; the guitar-flavored “Above The Clouds;” the Paul McCartney-like “Pretty Pussycat;” and the autobiographical “Around Our World,” which is being released as the album’s single. “AROUND OUR WORLD boasts percussive material and distorted guitar sounds that will bring back a memory or two of King Crimson’s Robert Fripp,” writes ROCKWIRED’s Brian Lush. “Strong melodies, infectious riffs, guitar driven bliss and a sense of artistry… it’s nice to see them back with a great new CD!” “AROUND OUR WORLD’s smoothed-out melodic tracks accompanied by electric guitar riffs are hypnotizing,” raves CAMPUS CIRCLE. “Tasty collection of pop-infused offerings from an offbeat trio whose roots reach back to Akron, Ohio (Cn you say “D-E-V-O”?),” quips ALL ACCESS MAGAZINE. “The Towels touch some nerves lyrically, while gelling into various smooth musical grooves…(their)harmonious, lyrics thought-provoking.”

“The Towels are a different sort of group…they don’t sound like anyone else!,” exclaims MUSIC CONNECTION magazine Editor, Bernard Baur, in an April 2007 live show review. “Their songs have so many influences, the group is almost beyond categorization…The Towels not only make it work, they add heaviness to their music. They come across as fresh, interesting, and compelling,” Baur concludes emphatically. “Quirky, but not annoyingly so,” writes DAILY BREEZE scribe, Sam Gnerre, in his “Band In A Box” feature on the group (May ’07). “Catchy, but with power behind the hooks..odd, but not just for oddness sake…the songs on (latest CD) AMERICAN BEAUS keep a solid foundation in ear-friendly, radio-ready rock.” The acclaimed quartet capped off a great 2006 with a series of awards and nominations: being chosen a “Top 100 Unsigned Artist” by prestigious industry trade publication, MUSIC CONNECTION (selected from over one-thousand entrants by a panel of the magazine’s Editors and Contributing Writers); a nomination in the “Best Rock Group” category of the 2006 All Access Magazine Music Awards; and finally, a nomination in the “Best Pop/R&B Group” category at the 2006 South Bay Music Awards. The Media has embraced The Towels. “FOUR STARS (Highest Rating),” says Todd David Schwartz of CBS RADIO. “Simply put, The Towels are one of the most delightfully entertaining, one-of-a kind musical combos I’ve heard in many decades. Uniquely, marvelously talented! These guys deserve to be major stars. Yes, I admit that I have now become a Towel addict. Once you hear them, you’ll probably become addicted, too!” Bill Messick (NEW ARTIST RADIO), CD Review of AMERICAN BEAUS, raved, “the music is a great blend of Alternative, Rock, Blues and Pop with a genius slice of humor mixed in. Each song had a very different sound from the next song, keeping you wondering what was next…good music you can sink your soul into!”

The Towels’ CD AMERICAN BEAUS (Platehead Records) was released to much critical acclaim: “A great blend of Alternative, Rock, Blues, and Pop, with a genius slice of humor mixed in, “ wrote NEW ARTIST RADIO. “Each song has a very different sound from the next song, keeping you wondering what was next…good music you can sink your soul into.” “In today’s pop music climate, it’s not often that one finds music that takes them away on that proverbial Magic Carpet Ride,” writes ROCKWIRED Producer and Host, Brian Lush. “Pop music hasn’t done that since the 70’s with the likes of Bowie, T-Rex, Roxy Music or Blondie. A listener these days has to look to the past. At least that’s what ROCKWIRED thought until someone told us about THE TOWELS. ”Their latest CD, AMERICAN BEAUS,” continues Lush, “is a Beatles-esque pop rock confection that reminds one of the days when pop music was sweet without being cotton-candy and stressed melodies instead of grunts. The proof of this can be heard in the standout tracks, “Sabretooth Love,” Once Again,” and “Werewolf Moon.” ROCKWIRED is broadcast to over two-hundred stations on the ARN (American Radio Network).
